Organisers of the Zomba Business Fair have expressed satisfaction with the high patronage of the event held on 29 March along Bluegum Avenue.

Chairperson of the organising committee, Lupiherani Mkhupera, said the response from business people and residents of Zomba is an indication that people are interested in business opportunities like the one being offered through the fair.

“Our expectation is that the exhibitors who have come here today will be able to establish new business links and find new customers. This is not just about making sales but rather lessons with which they can expand their businesses,” stressed Mkhupera.

He added that moving forward, they plan to hold the business fair quarterly as a way of providing a platform for business people and companies to continue networking and building business relationships.

In his remarks, Trust Pezayani of Anamed Company who came all the way from Ntcheu said the business fair has created many business deals from their interactions with other exhibitors of the same trade and others related to what they produce.

“We are here simply because we want to sell our products especially to new customers. We also want to build relationships with other businesses in Zomba,” explained Pezayani.

Another exhibitor, Chisomo Chiutsi, a jewellery seller, said she decided to participate in the fair after realising that this was a way of expanding her business as well as meeting new customers.

“I do not have a physical store but this exhibition has acted as one today and has encouraged me to open one. I have met people whom I could have never met if I was just selling my merchandise online,” explained Chiutsi.

Over thirty businesses showcased their products ranging from farm produce, clothing, books and toys, among others.
