Senior Chief Mlumbe excited with tree survival rate at Chipalanje Hill

Senior Chief Mlumbe of Zomba says the conservation measures which were set to preserve trees planted last year in Chipalanje Hill at Mtiya Ward are bearing fruits.

According to the chief, most of the trees that were planted in the previous year have survived due to the strict measures that were set to protect them.

Ward councillor for Mtiya Ward, Steve Bamusi, concurred with Senior Chief Mlumbe and went on to urge others to emulate this in a bid to conserve the environment in their respective areas.

“All stakeholders such as the Malawi Defense Force, Police and Prison services were involved in the tree planting exercise and they are also helping us in enforcing all the rules,” Mlumbe said.

Bamusi further called on all stakeholders who took part in the tree planting exercise to visit the area to witness the development.
